Atmo Biosciences named winner in Fast Company’s 2026 World Changing Ideas Awards
16 June 2026.
Atmo Biosciences is proud to announce that it has been named a winner of Fast Company’s 2026 World Changing Ideas Awards. This annual recognition honors bold and transformative efforts that tackle the world’s most pressing issues—from sustainability initiatives and AI developments to cutting-edge medical devices at the forefront of their field. Now in its ninth year, the World Changing Ideas Awards celebrate organizations and projects that are delivering measurable impact across industries.
Atmo’s FDA-cleared ingestible capsule fits the Awards criteria by using novel, gas-sensing technology to provide gastroenterologists with objective, validated data that fulfills an unmet clinical need in diagnosing highly prevalent gastrointestinal dysmotility conditions. With the recent growth in GLP-1s as weight loss drugs, many patients experience gastrointestinal complications as a result of their use, with 40-70% of users experiencing GI side effects and ~65% discontinuing treatment within 12 months. Atmo gives the gastroenterologist an objective tool to diagnose and manage those symptoms by providing insights that change treatment decisions to help keep patients on therapy.
This year’s awards, featured on fastcompany.com, highlight 191 outstanding projects across 14 categories. A panel of Fast Company editors and reporters evaluated more than 1,500 entries based on their impact, sustainability, design, creativity, scalability, and ability to improve society.
Atmo CEO Mal Hebblewhite said: “We are delighted with this Award that recognizes Atmo in advancing the diagnosis and treatment of functional GI disorders, thereby making a positive contribution for patients and clinicians.”
Fast Company’s Summer 2026 issue (on news stands June 23) will feature select award winners working on solutions that include health and medical technology, geothermal energy, and more.
“The World Changing Ideas Awards are more than inspiration—they’re a measure of real-world impact,” says Fast Company editor-in-chief Brendan Vaughan. “This year’s honorees are turning bold ideas into tangible solutions and addressing urgent global challenges with creativity and rigor.”
